Paragliding at the Interlaken Base

The Flying Experience

What is exciting about this place?

To Luegibruegli for example, you can hike within an hour and do a great morning or sunset hike-and-fly.

Is it beginner friendly?

This region has many beginner friendly sites, and some that are for more experienced pilots. Close to interlaken, the sites like Luegibrüggli, Amisbuhl and Howald are flyable for beginners all day. Just make sure to check all the weather, wind systems, and airpace info before take-off. In high-season stick to the friendly conditions in the mornings and afternoons as it can get thermic.

Know before you go

We are in Switzerland, so you must check airspace maps, and DABS to make sure that you are not suddenly in a restricted flying area. It is also advised to check if military is on or off especially when flying towards Brienz, or crossing towards the jungfrau region. Remember, airspaces in Switzerland are a tough subject, make sure you get all the info you can get befire flying. This is a good place to start:

The 130.930 is a frequency used by some local pilots to fly and have something on the radio. Its not perse an emergency frequency, but there is a big chance that there is someone on it in case of emergency.

Always keep an eye out for Fohn and Bise. Check the charts before you go.
