Paragliding at the Mt. Tavor Base
The Flying Experience
Summer is the time to go, not many days are flyable in winter, its mostly easterlies winds, so back wind, and the thermals are not strong enough. It’s the most popular flying site in the country. You can fly some classic cross country routes from Tavor to Mevo Hama, about 25-30km.
During the war the site is closed.
What is exciting about this place?
Is it beginner friendly?
This site beginner friendly, if you have about 100-200 hours of flying under your belt. Also keep in mind that midsummers can get strong around midday, so know your limits and fly on calmer times of the day. None of the takeoffs are large and grassy, most takeoffs in Israel are small and rocky.
What are the local regulations?
No regulations, no registrations, no license requirements. Just remember that there are important airspace limitations, which change frequently, and it is best to ask local XC pilots advice for this, especially if you would like to fly outside of the weekends.
